Vineyard Notes
The Testa Family Vineayrd is located in Calpella, Hopland, Mendocino County, CA. The carignan is from 90 year old head trained, dry farmed vines along the old redwood why corridor through the town of Calpella. It's warm here and the family has generational knowledge of this place and vines. They continue to expand into neighboring vineyard and converting the farming practice to organic and sustainable.
Production Notes
Produced at the Coturri Winery. Many different lots came in for this blend. All of it was removed from macro bins and destemmed into open top fermenters, manually punched down and pressed to neutral french oak barrels.
Winemaker Notes
2018 was a fantastic growing year. The carignan is still a stand out in this blend. It's quite a statement for it to stand out ahead of the zinfandel, but it's a sign that with the alcohol and acid, this wine is good to go for 30 years or more.
